IN-GAME SURVEY

We have the chance to have departments that can support us in conducting user research through surveys, interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and identify pain points. On Hungry Dragon™, we analyzed user feedback and data to iterate on designs and enhance user satisfaction and monetisation strategy.

SUMMARY

For the 1st anniversary of the release of our game, I wanted to understand what players thought by implementing a new in-house survey process, built from scratch. The idea was to have a survey tool that could be used whenever needed. It took the shape of an in-game popup that would redirect you to a Typeform survey.

Our server programmer added trackers to capture user IDs when answering the survey. This allowed our Data team to do finer analysis and correlations.

 PHASE 1: Designing the survey

I started building the survey keeping in mind that our audience is very casual and young. Going for simple and engaging visuals helped make the survey more easy to digest. Working in collaboration with the Consumer Market Knowledge and Marketing team, we defined our questions in a way that would not influence players. Getting data that is as authentic as possible is key.

PHASE 2: Creating a new process

The first iterations of the survey collected answers for 3 weeks. The data extracts were then passed on to the Data Analysts. This process helped us understand better many aspects of our audience, their expectations, their frustrations. Pure gold for a UI UX Designer.
